巧みで視野の広い議論だがいくつかの主張にはまだあまり説得されない．一定の発展史を前提して，認識的先行性の内実が思想の発展とともに変容したという可能性のみを考慮し，また νοῦς の役割を基礎付け主義的に理解しているために，擬似問題を立てている可能性があるように思う．この点 Irwin の議論とも並行的．

もちろんそうと結論づけるにはテクスト間の相違点とされる部分を分析しなければならないし，特に『プロトレプティコス』解釈などは検討したほうがよさそうだが，例えば Top. VI 4 と Met. Z で認識的先行性の内実が異なるという主張は疑わしく思える．
